AIMS is hosting a Luncheon Briefing with MP Stéphane Dion on November 3rd to discuss the future of Canada’s political system.

AIMS Director of Research Don McIver argues that a comprehensive trade agreement with Europe (CETA) is in Canada’s best interests.

McIver also discusses regional consequences of national policies, and notes that the emergence of more interprovincial and federal-provincial councils has provided greater opportunities to resolve such issues.

McIver questions the culture of entitlement surrounding MLA compensation in Nova Scotia. He ultimately recommends eliminating MLA pensions or, at least, replacing them with fixed-contribution plans or an RRSP allowance.
