The Atlantic Institute for Market Studies (AIMS) is appointing Ed Hollett as a senior research fellow.

The appointment will be officially announced Tuesday.

Hollett will focus on policy research for Newfoundland and Labrador, AIMS announced in a news release.

This announcement will mark the beginning of the first full-time presence for AIMS in this province.

Hollett was educated at Memorial University and the Royal Military College in Kingston and served as special assistant tot hen premier Clyde Wells from 1989-96 and was a Canadian Army public affairs officer from 1994 to 2000.

In the private sector, he has represented clients in the aerospace, fishing, agriculture and health sectors. Since 2005, he has authored a blog about Newfoundland and Labrador public affairs.

The Atlantic Institute for Market Studies is a public policy research organization.
