A native of St. John’s, Newfoundland, he is a graduate Marine Biologist from the University of Guelph, Ontario. Brian is also a graduate of the Executive Development Program, Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.

Since 1994 Brian has been President of Rogers Consulting Inc. which specializes in giving advice to companies in the Aquaculture and Food industries, as well as General Management consulting.

He has advised High Liner Foods Inc as Director of Business Development and also as President of Fisheries Resource Development Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of High Liner Foods dedicated to scallop aquaculture, which ceased operations in 1996.

From 1984 – 1994 he was the General Manager of the Eastern Canadian Operations of Stolt Sea Farm and President of Stolt Sea Farm Maine in the United States, having started the company for the owners in 1984. Today, Stolt Sea Farm is one of the largest Atlantic Salmon Aquaculture companies in the world with sales from its international operations totalling over $US300 million.

Directorships past and present include the Aquaculture Association of Canada, the New Brunswick Salmon Growers Association, Chairman of The Province of New Brunswick Task Force on Aquaculture, the Huntsman Marine Science Centre, the Canadian Centre For Fisheries Innovation, the Canadian Institute for Fisheries Technology, National Research Council’s Institute for Marine Biosciences in Halifax, and several other Provincial, National and International steering committees involved with Aquaculture.

Brian has spoken Nationally and Internationally on Aquacultural issues including Marketing, Economics, and various Technical areas. He has been featured in such magazines as Forbes and Macleans, and in 1994 was the recipient of the Aquaculturalist of the Year Award at the Atlantic Aquaculture Fair.
