Halifax, NS: The Atlantic Institute for Market Studies (AIMS) is delighted to announce Ben Eisen’s appointment as the new AIMS Director of Research and Programmes, effective 20 January 2014. 

Prior to joining AIMS, Mr. Eisen worked as a research analyst for the Citizens Budget Commission in New York City, where he conducted research and analysis on healthcare policy in New York State. He also worked as the Assistant Research Director for the Frontier Centre for Public Policy (FCPP), a Winnipeg-based think tank. At FCPP, Mr. Eisen conducted extensive research on a wide range of Canadian policy issues and published influential studies on several policy topics, including intergovernmental relations, environmental policy, healthcare, and higher education.

For the past two decades, AIMS has solidified itself as a distinctive Atlantic Canadian voice on economic and political issues, setting the benchmark for public policy by drawing together ideas from some of the world’s foremost experts and applying that thinking to challenges facing Canadians. Mr. Eisen’s expertise will bolster this reputation and ensure that AIMS continues producing sound policy analysis, research, and commentary.

Invited frequently to comment on Canadian policy developments, Mr. Eisen has provided dozens of radio and television interviews for media outlets across the country. His policy columns have appeared in the National Post, the Telegraph-Journal, the Winnipeg Free Press, the Montreal Gazette, the Calgary Herald, and the Toronto Sun. He holds a BA from the University of Toronto, as well as an MPP from the University of Toronto’s School of Public Policy and Governance.
