The Big Squeeze is based on the remarks to an AIMS’ Breakfast Briefing by Chris Ragan, the Clifford Clark Visiting Economist at Finance Canada, and a celebrated McGill economist.

He provides the data to show how serious the demographic issues are facing this country. He also spells out what that means to the boomers, their children and their grandchildren. Moving from the demographic squeeze to the fiscal problems that will result, Ragan sets out a couple of potential scenarios. He warns the status quo is not an option, and points out that not only must governments get back in balance, but they have to stay that way for a while.
