Fredericton, NB – The New Brunswick government is looking to form agency for job creation.

A bill to will be tabled in the spring of 2011 to create a crown corporation to attract investment and create jobs, the Saint John Telegraph-Journal reported. It will be called Invest NB and should be running by 2012.

The goal is for business leaders with experience and know-how to run the organization as opposed to the usual bureaucracy. This is part of the new PC governments plan to restructure government programs focused on the private sector.

As the Telegraph-Journal reported, the proposal has been receiving praises from both the New Brunswick Liberal opposition and Charles Cirtwill, president and CEO of the Atlantic Institute for Market Studies in Halifax. Invest NB will be watched closely throughout it’s creation as the government attempts to set up a tool for businesses without getting too involved or controlling.
