A regional think tank has ranked Dr. JH Gillis Regional of Antigonish as the top high school in the province. In it’s annual report, the Atlantic Institute for Market studies says, the Antigonish school’s first place showing is driven by the high number of its students who go on to post-secondary education and “a strong performance in most other areas.” Cape Breton Highlands Academy, which had been the top school in the province for three years running, slips to second, but the report notes the school “still demonstrates a great ability to keep students engaged in learning and train in essential competencies.” Another local school, East Antigonish Academy, is fifth.
Dr. JH Gillis is top ranked school in the province, CBHA second
