President of Vic Progressive Diamond Drilling and President of Terrain Drilling Solutions Inc.

Laura Araneda received her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick in 1991 and entered the family business. Today, as President of Vic Progressive Diamond Drilling (VPDD), Araneda believes that attention to quality, safety, and environment have helped BPDD grow and stand out in a highly competitive market by staying focused on doing things right, by drilling safely, and with care for the environment, employees, and host communities.

VPDD began with a focus on underground drilling and still does an extensive amount of that work, however, it has also expanded into surface drilling, where much of the energy is now being directed as mining firms and exploration interests look to find the next generation of producing mines to feed hungry markets. Araneda expanded the company from specializing in underground exploration to surface exploration and saw opportunities in providing mine services to establish mines, extending labour to mines as needed on a contract basis, and offering expertise in high-pressure grouting and high-volume grouting to help address water infiltration situations.

Araneda is also President of Terrain Drilling Solutions Inc., a heliport able track carrier manufacturer also based out of New Brunswick.

Some of her recent accomplishments include:

•Nominated for RBC Female Entrepreneur of the Year, 2010 and 2012

•Voted in the Top Profit W100 Canada’s Top Women Entrepreneurs, 2010, 2012, and 2013

•Nominated for Ernst and Young Atlantic Entrepreneur of the Year, 2011

•Charter Member of the Atlantic Canada Chapter Women’s President Organization
