From Commons Committees to Senate hearings, from commentaries to research papers, AIMS was talking about fiscal imbalance long before it became the hot topic at the first ministers’ table.

The latest meeting on April 11th indicates it isn’t a topic that will soon disappear. The 10 premiers and three territorial leaders were unable to find a consensus on a report they themselves commissioned. Meanwhile, a federally commissioned report on fiscal imbalance is expected to be released later this spring, indicating the topic will drive a lot more headlines in the coming year.

To better understand the debate, consider reading some of the following AIMS papers and commentaries about fiscal imbalance and equalization.
