Fellow in Security and Defence Policy
Alex S. Wilner is a post-doctoral fellow with the Transatlantic Post-Doc Fellowship for International Relations and Security (TAPIR). As part of the fellowship, Alex will be stationed as a visiting scholar with the Center for Security Studies (Zurich, Switzerland), the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (Berlin, Germany), and the RAND Corporation (Washington, D.C., USA).
Alex is in the final stages of completing his Doctorate in political science (Dalhousie University) and has a Master’s degree (Dalhousie University) and Bachelor’s degree (McGill University). His dissertation research has been awarded both Social Science and Humanities Research Council and Dr. Ronald Baker Doctoral Scholarships. Alex’s academic interests involve the study of conflict and international relations, with a primary focus on applying deterrence theory to counterterrorism.
