Peter Pearse is Professor Emeritus at the University of British Columbia and a specialist in natural resources management and policy.
In addition to his academic work, Dr. Pearse has conducted several public enquiries on natural resources in Canada, including a provincial Royal Commission on British Columbia’s forest industry and a federal Royal Commission on Canada’s Pacific fisheries. He has also chaired public inquiries on Canada’s water resources and freshwater fisheries, and has served as an advisor to foreign governments and international organizations on natural resource issues. His publications deal mainly with the management of forests, fisheries, and water resources.
Dr. Pearse is now a consultant on natural resource and environmental issues, manager of a private investment company, and a director of World Wildlife Fund Canada.
Among other distinctions, Dr. Pearse has been awarded the Forestry Achievement Award, the Distinguished Forester Award, the Order of Canada, and the Jubilee Medal.
