James (Jim) Frost started his career as Director of Marketing with the Halifax-Dartmouth Port Development Commission. He left there to become Vice President of UM Shipping, a short sea shipping service that operated between Halifax and Boston.
Frost was also Marketing Manager for Marine Atlantic, a large Crown-owned ferry service that operated throughout Atlantic Canada. While there, he developed a new cruise product, "Cruising Labrador", using the company’s under-utilized capacity.
Since 1995, Frost has owned and operated MariNova Consulting Ltd., which specializes in multi-modal transportation studies. He has a B.A. from McGill, an M.A. from Queen's and an M.B.A. from Saint Mary's University.
Frost teaches history part-time at Saint Mary's University and is the author of numerous scholarly articles as well as, Merchant Princes: Halifax's First Family of Finance, Ships and Steel, which was short-listed for two Atlantic Literary awards. He lives in Halifax with his wife and young son.
