A.W. May, Ph.D., spent some 27 years in the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and its predecessors as a scientist, research director, international negotiator, and senior manager. He was Assistant Deputy Minister responsible for Fisheries in the Atlantic Provinces and Quebec from 1978-1982, and Deputy Minister of the the Department from 1982 through 1985. He is currently President and Vice-Chancellor of Memorial University of Newfoundland.
