Past President and CEO, Maritime Medical Care Inc.
Born in Bridgetown, Nova Scotia, James W. Moir, Jr. held a number of senior positions in Toronto before returning to Nova Scotia to take the helm at Maritime Medical Care. He has been Senior Vice-President and Director, Merrill Lynch Canada Inc.; President and Director, Midland Doherty Financial Corp. Ltd.; and Chairman, President and CEO, Midland Capital Corp. While there he was the principal architect of the creation of Midland Walwyn Inc.
He is the past Chairman of the Board of Directors of a number of organizations, including the Halifax/Dartmouth Metro United Way; the QE II Health Sciences Center; the Aconcagua Foundation; the Greater Halifax Economic Development Partnership; the HeartWood Institute; and TecKnowledge Healthcare Systems Inc. He also served as Vice Chairman of the Foundation Board of the Izaak Walton Killam Hospital for Children, Women and Families; was a director of Acadia University; Keltic Inc.; and Salter Street Films; and was the Chairman of Sears Canada Bank and Lead Director of Sears Canada Inc.
Mr. Moir was inducted into the Canadian Information Productivity Awards Hall of Fame in 1997 and is a past member of the Advisory Boards of the Acadia and Dalhousie University Business Schools.
