After graduating from Liverpool University in England with an honors degree in Engineering, Colin worked for G.E.C. Telecom for two years before coming to Canada in 1968. After two years with New Brunswick Telephone Company, he came to Nova Scotia and joined Maritime Tel & Tel in the Engineering Department where he held various supervisory positions. In 1981 he transferred to the Business Services Department as Sales Manager Special Services. The following year he became General Manager Business Services and in 1985 he was promoted to Vice President, Marketing. On May 1, 1995 he was appointed President and CEO. He is also Chairman of the Island Telephone Company and MT & T Mobility.
Colin is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia and a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineers. He is a Chairman of the Stentor Alliance of Canadian Telephone Companies. He is Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and is on the Board of Directors of the Greater Halifax Economic Development Partnership and FastLane Technologies Inc.. He is Chairman of the Acquisition Committee of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia.
Colin was Chairman of Softworld '96, an Information Technology industry international networking and strategic alliance event which was held in Halifax in September, 1996.
His hobbies include running, swimming and tennis. He is a member of the Saraguay Club and the Halifax Club.
